Agnieszka Anna Zakreta was born in
Gdansk, Poland May 2, 1978. At the age of 5 she moved to the United
States with her parents and older brother Przemyslaw. Arts and the
entertainment business have never been distant to Agnieszka since her
parents have been in the business during most of her young years. Being
around European, especially Polish celebrities gave Agnieszka the confidence
of stage performance.
As a young girl Agnieszka always dreamed of being an actress, however when it was time to attend college she decided to pursue graphic design. Before starting her first college year she entered a national beauty pageant in Florida called Miss Polonia USA. Little did she expect to win the contest. After winning the title of Miss Polonia USA 1998, Agnieszka flew to Poland to participate in the Miss Polonia S.p.Z.o.o contest in Poland. Even though she wasn't able to take part in the competition she was given the opportunity to fly to Malaysia and represent Poland in the Miss Tourism International contest. The following year Agnieszka won the title of Miss Tourism International 1999 beating dozens of representatives from other counties and signed a one year modeling contract with Sassy cosmetics. In the year 2000, Agnieszka was invited by TVPolonia Polish Television to come to Poland and take part in the Miss Polonii Word Pageant. It was there that Agnieszka won the title and a car. After returning back home, Agnieszka decided to put her experience to good use and start a Polish-American Beauty Contest of her own. She is now a successful owner, founder, and director of Miss Polonii Stanow Zjednoczonych based in Illinois. At that point she was ready to quit her "pageant career" but had one more competition she wanted to try and win, Miss Illinois USA 2003. Agnieszka competed against 100 other delegates from Illinois and won as the first Polish speaking Miss Illinois USA in history. Not only did she win many fun prizes, cash, and other goodies but she now had the opportunity to compete for Miss USA. Even though the title of Miss USA wasn't something she got to take home, the fun, adventure and opportunities that arose afterwords were well worth the stress. Besides being a successful beauty queen, business owner, and model, Agnieszka is also known as an actress. In 1995, she played a small part in a film called "The Wizard of Austin Blvd." filmed here in Chicago, In 1999, she appeared in c music video for "Swing Billy". Her recent film is a short doc. film about Pola Negri directed by Mark Kotowski. |
